Flash 8 Security Complaints
by JamesonH
As Flash 8 has been spreading through the community and so have the complaints about the new sandbox security model. Bob expressed his feelings about the shortcomings of the new security model back in early August, but unfortunately it didn’t garner much attention from the folks at Macromedia. This time around Ken Toley of Macromedia has initiated the conversation about the new security model and the people weighing have been giving less than spectacular feedback.
What are your thoughts on the new security model? Have you had a good or bad experience with it? Please share your stories if you have any. Hopefully your feedback will help Macromedia make some improvements.

Hmm? I really haven’t had much experience with it nor do I really know it much detail how it works. Mochibot still appears to be working unless I view my files locally…

I have had many problems with it, I have a lot of cross communication between loaded .swf’s and _level0. variables. The security itself isn’t MY main problem, the fact that its so hard to find THE instances that are causing sandbox violations is the hard part. It gives no clue as to what caused it other than the originating clip. Surely there should be a few simple options to completely disable the security on a published SWF for those who simply don’t need it to begin with. And no, the allow all command does not cover everything.

Exactly, thank you Alex.
Has anyone come up with a solution/way to solve what Alex just described?
I hate the new flash security.
