Flash 8 Security Complaints

by JamesonH

As Flash 8 has been spreading through the community and so have the complaints about the new sandbox security model. Bob expressed his feelings about the shortcomings of the new security model back in early August, but unfortunately it didn’t garner much attention from the folks at Macromedia. This time around Ken Toley of Macromedia has initiated the conversation about the new security model and the people weighing have been giving less than spectacular feedback.

What are your thoughts on the new security model? Have you had a good or bad experience with it? Please share your stories if you have any. Hopefully your feedback will help Macromedia make some improvements.

We’re in NY

by JamesonH

Bob and I just got to NY yesterday for some meetings and to spread the MochiBot gospel. :-) We’ll be speaking at an IGDA event tonight to present how MochiBot can be used in games and the impact the data can have on predicting a game’s success. If anyone is interested in attending this event, then you can RSVP here.

We’ll also be speaking at the next NY Flash User Group meeting on Tuesday, September 20. The topic of the evening will be on developing games with Flash and some basics in ActionScript. We’d love to meet some of you all in person so please feel free to stop by. The meeting will be from 7-9pm at the IBM Public Space located on 56th street & Madison Avenue.

If any of you are in New York and want to meet up, then just leave us a comment here.
